Tips on How to Buy Diamond Wedding Jewelry

After five long years of dating, my boyfriend finally popped the question. We got engaged a few months ago and planned for a June wedding. With only ten months to plan everything, I had to move fast. While I was shopping for my gown, the consultant asked how I planned to accessorize. That was something I had not yet considered. Once I picked my gown, I did some research and found tips on how to buy wedding jewelry.

My gown had a moderate amount of sparkle and I knew I wanted to enhance that with some diamond jewelry. With a white V-neck dress and white gold diamond engagement ring I knew that I would need to go simple. The metals needed to match. At an individually owned jewelry store, I found an elegant diamond and opal pendant set in white gold. I placed it on a short, thin, white gold chain so it would sit just below my collar bone. Then I searched through the diamond jewelry. With the necklace and veil I was planning on wearing, I knew the earrings would need to be simple. After searching through many sets of dangle diamond earrings, I found a pair of diamond heart earrings set again in white gold. One look and I knew these would be the perfect match for my set.
Upon my return home, I tried on the gown and matching wedding jewelry. Looking at everything put together, I knew my fiancé was going to melt when he saw me coming down the aisle.

Diamond Wedding Bands – How To Buy Best On A Budget

Planning a wedding means trying to arrange everything to make the day perfect while finding a way to pay for it all. It can be tough to make that happen, and many people find themselves having to sacrifice certain parts of the big event in order to keep other parts they feel are more important. Part of that concern is being able to buy the perfect wedding bands. It might look like the only option a couple has when faced with a budget crunch is to forgo diamond bands, but that does not have to be the case.

The first step when it comes to diamond wedding bands and how to buy best on a budget is to shop for wedding bands only at a professional jewelry store. There may be tempting offers online from secondary sellers, with savings that seem too good to pass up, but remember the old saying: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

When at the jewelry store, ask to see older wedding bands that they might have. Many designers come out with new styles each year, and much like car dealerships, the store owners need to make room for the new models. This opens up some room for negotiation that will not be present when shopping for the latest designs, and very few people could look at diamond wedding bands and say, “Oh, that is last year’s model.”

Also keep in mind that many stores offer a variety of payment options to help finance the purchase of diamond bands. There are layaway options and payment plans that help a person spread out the cost over some time, making it easier. Some jewelry stores do not even charge interest on such plans, and those that do typically do so at a far better rate than traditional credit sources.

Finally, when it comes to diamond wedding bands, how to buy best on a budget may be to not buy right now. Instead, use the promise of a future anniversary as a reason to buy anniversary bands, when the other costs of the wedding have been paid off. That way it can be possible to get the dream diamond wedding bands in the long run without having to sacrifice the quality or style simply by settling on diamond bands that fit the current budget.

Creating A Memory With Custom Design Jewelry

After my husband passed away several years ago, it has been just my daughter and I. She was so young when it happened that she really only has a few fleeting memories of him. She graduated high school this year and I wanted to give her something special as a gift, something that would almost be from the both of us. There had been an I.D. bracelet he had worn, a gift handed down by his father and grandfather before him, and although I didn’t think it was something my daughter would wear, I wondered if there was some way I could incorporate it into a piece of handmade jewelry.

There was a jewelry store nearby that offered custom design jewelry, so I brought the bracelet down with me and told the craftsman what I was thinking about. He said he could definitely incorporate the bracelet into a new piece of custom jewelry and all I needed to do was come up with a jewelry design. He caught me off guard with how convenient and easy it would be, and when I explained that to him, he laughed and told me he gets that a lot.

“People think custom design jewelry involves weeks of sketching and model making, all to get the right look,” he said as he turned on his computer. By quickly scanning an image of the bracelet, he brought up a computer aided design program and began to show me all the possibilities that I had. Seeing just how easy this could be, I started thinking about creating two pieces of custom design jewelry. I explained what I was thinking about, and in just a matter of minutes, he had both looks up on the screen for me.

Then came the part that I thought would be the deal breaker: the cost. The figure he quoted me was surprisingly within the range of my budget, and I knew the only reason it was more than I thought was because I decided to get two pieces of handmade jewelry instead of one. The final custom design included a bangle that used pieces of the ID plate itself and a necklace featuring links from the original chain.

It was a pretty emotional night when I gave her the gifts. She had never known about the original bracelet but loved the fact that she had two pieces of custom design jewelry that came from it. A day does not go by where she isn’t wearing at least one of those pieces of handmade jewelry.

Taking A Shopping Trip Down Memory Lane

My son had been going with his girl for over a year, so my wife and I were not surprised when he told us he was going to ask her to marry him. What did surprise us was when he asked me and not my wife to go with him to the jewelry store when he shopped for engagement rings. We pointed out to him that it had been almost three decades since I had been shopping for diamond engagement rings, and as someone who wears more diamond jewelry than I do, his mother might be a better person for this trip. He admitted they were both valid points but it was me he wanted to come with him, so off we went.

I’ve been back to the jewelry store over the years selecting anniversary presents and birthday gifts, but since I didn’t need to worry about bridal diamond rings, I stopped paying attention to all of the new designs that were out there. My son had done a little bit of research online, but based on his reaction when we walked in the store and the sales associate asked if she could help us, it had only been enough research to realize how completely overwhelmed he was going to be. I answered that we were shopping for engagement rings and that the groom-to-be was a little nervous.

She immediately did everything she could to put us at ease. Walking us over to a small sitting area with comfortable chairs, she explained her background and certification so we knew she could answer all of our questions. Once we were relaxing, she began to ask my son a few general questions about what he was looking for. Satisfied with the answers, she excused herself for a moment to select a few different engagement rings to look at.

Once he had the diamond jewelry in his hands, it made it easier for him to be more specific with what he was looking for. She was very patient with us, taking the time to show us as many rings as he wanted to see. When he finally had it narrowed down to three finalists, she even suggested that he take a few days to think about it. Doing just that he, he went back a week later, this time with his mom, to show her the engagement ring he had selected.

Breaking Down Loose Diamonds: Why Are They so Expensive?

Everyone loves those gorgeous loose diamonds they see in their local jewelry store. There is just something about them that drives women crazy and makes men shudder all at the same time. It is hard to believe these tiny, little stones are worth so much money, but they are! Here are the reasons why:

certified loose diamonds
Loose diamonds are given their values based on four categories. These four categories are known as the four Cs of diamonds: Cut, color, clarity and carat weight. Since diamonds are naturally created by the earth, it makes sense that they are all very different in each of these categories. The cut of certified loose diamonds is determined by a professional diamond cutter. After the stones have been harvested and polished, they are cut into a specific shape.

The color of loose diamonds is strictly determined by the earth. Even white diamonds have varying degrees of white, but if a stone has blue tints, then it was exposed to boron during its formation deep within the earth. The clarity of a diamond is also determined by the earth. This category deals with the number of imperfections the diamond contains. The carat weight of loose diamonds is determined by the earth and the diamond cutter because carat weight refers to the sheer size of the stone.

A Brief Summary of Custom Design Jewelry

When you are considering creating a custom design jewelry piece, you will inevitably make it to the stage of the three dimensional computer drawing. This is often referred to as a CAD. This drawing is what bridges the gap from your imagination to the jeweler's tools. You can explain something until you are blue in the face, but if you do not have a clear and concise visual to go along with it, your jeweler may as well be guessing as to what to make for you. Since the software for these drawings has developed so well in recent years, it is becoming easier for jewelers to give the customers exactly what they want with very little room for error.

Custom design jewelry is a sight to be seen. When you see something that has been carefully made just for the person who is wearing it, you can tell. It will be unlike anything you have ever seen before because it is one of a kind. Since it is so affordable now, you may as well partake in the fun!

When you are in the initial stages of the custom jewelry design, make sure you show your jeweler a lot of pictures. The goal is to get the CAD drawing as close to your vision as possible on the first try. You can then make some revisions to the drawing afterwards.

Where Do Loose Diamonds Come From?

Do you actually know what people mean when they use the term loose diamonds? Most people would think they are referring to the lovely stones they see in jewelry stores. They would be right in this assumption, but there are so much more to these certified loose diamonds than one may think. It takes so long to form these stones and they are made naturally within the earth! Of course there is a manmade version of these stones and they are called cubic zirconias. Both are very stunning, but only one comes from deep inside of the earth.

Loose diamonds are made right underneath our feet. Over one hundred miles beneath the earth's surface exists carbon atoms, blistering heat and extreme pressure. These conditions need to be exactly perfect for diamonds to commence their formation process. When carbon atoms are exposed to such conditions, they band together to form very cohesive and almost indestructible lattice like bonds. These specific bonds are what make them the hardest material naturally created in the entire earth. To say they are indestructible would not be an accurate statement at all, but they are harder than anything else the earth has created without a doubt. This makes them great and practical for uses other than aesthetics like dentistry or commercial drilling. Since they are so hard, you can use them to easily cut through a number of substances, including human teeth!

Loose diamonds at smyth jewelers are very pretty and shiny. We all know that! What gives them their brilliant sparkle and shine, though? The answer is complex, but can be attributed to the facets cut into the stones. When a professional diamond cutter makes his perfect incisions into the diamond, he creates these facets that allow the light to beautifully bounce off the stone. Facets are the little lines within the stone that not only give the diamond its shape, but also reflect light. People think that the cut of a diamond is solely the overall shape of the stone, but there is obviously much more to it than that. There are three other categories of diamonds that also contribute to the value of a diamond. They are color, clarity and carat weight. All four categories must work together in order to form an accurate dollar amount for each individual stone. One would be meaningless without the others. The next time you spot a diamond ring, make sure you think about exactly where it came from.
